Useful Tips to Consider when Measuring for Window Film
While you can easily bring your car with you when you want to have its windows tinted, it seems an extra task when it comes to residential window films. Before you head over and ask for your preferred tint supplier to do the job, obtaining the accurate measurement for window film can save time and if fortunate, you can even get a discount. Here are some tips to put in mind:
1. Inspect the windows first
It is an absolute must to check the condition of your residential windows beforehand. In this point, you can see if there are cracks and dents that need to be replaced before getting it filmed.
2. Measure the area you want to install the film
Take note that you should only measure the glass area, excluding the window frame. Do it by determining the measurement of the glass from left to right, and from top to bottom.
3. Have an additional inch or two in each direction
Errors may happen during the installation, so it is better to consider having an additional inch or probably 2 inches to both the width and height measurement. With this, you can film can be cut and fitted according to the size of the window frame.
Take note that every home has a different shape and size of the window, which means that the measurement process may vary on what your residential has. In case yours is not the common square or rectangular windows, you may want to follow the tips below:
For oval windows, measure the height at the center followed by the width at the middle part. Then, add 2 inches to both width and height measurement.
As for the circular windows, only measure the width in the core area then have an additional two inches.
4. Double check the measurement
Before submitting the measurement, it is a must to check it twice.
